Dial 112 for Emergency

Travelling Abroad and Need Special Emergency Services?

Mobile phones can be used in countries with different emergency numbers. This means that a traveller visiting a foreign country does not have to know the local emergency numbers.

There are two ways of accessing this:

Dial 112 with no charge and you will be put through to a specially trained operator who will deal with your request or transfer the call to the most appropriate emergency service.

It’s important to know that the operator will identify your location so you do not need to stress about finding the street name and number etc.

Here’s how to make the call on iPhone 7 or earlier:

  1. Rapidly press the side button five times. The Emergency SOS slider will appear.  (See graphic above)

But what if I cannot speak or I need to remain silent in an emergency??

There may come a time when you need to call the emergency services but doing so could put you, or those around you, in even more danger.

The solution? Dial 55.  This is called the ‘silent solution.’

And another tip read why here:  always travel with Insurance cover!
